Programme overview

What you will work towards

This is a preview of the developing syllabus. These learning outcomes describe the intended course, not an already awarded competence.

  • Calculate and audit signed, cumulative and incremental dimensional change with correct units, baselines and rounding.
  • Investigate fibre, yarn, structure, processing and component hypotheses without mistaking correlation for confirmed cause.
  • Select appropriate dimensional-stability and stretch method families and identify the limits of public method abstracts.
  • Design traceable, controlled material and process comparisons while distinguishing repeated readings from independent trials.
  • Use directional retention, mass-balance and inverse-compensation models with explicit assumptions and garment-validation requirements.
  • Prepare a complete dimensional-stability investigation portfolio with checked calculations, a corrective-action plan and a bounded professional conclusion.

Enrolment and certification are not open for this programme. Teaching drafts, technical references, media and assessments are still subject to review.

Curriculum preview

10 planned modules, organised as a progressive learning sequence.

01Dimensional stability principlesFoundation · Draft syllabus

Six substantive teaching drafts covering signed dimensional change, reference states, grain direction, component mismatch, specification decisions and a foundation workshop. Includes lesson-specific practice and introduction scripts, plus three draft assessment questions.

02Fibre and yarn influencesFoundation · Draft syllabus

Six substantive teaching drafts on fibre identity, yarn count and confounding, elastane properties, heat history, wool felting and evidence-led material comparisons. Includes worked calculations, practical investigations, scripts and three draft assessment questions.

03Weave and knit shrinkage mechanismsFoundation · Draft syllabus

Six substantive teaching drafts covering woven crimp models, knit directions, area/GSM mass balance, skew and seam-twist distinctions, roll-position variation and a structure workshop. Includes examples, practical tasks, scripts and three draft assessment questions.

04Relaxation and progressive shrinkageIntermediate · Draft syllabus

Six substantive teaching drafts on process reference stages, cumulative and incremental change, apparent plateaus, restoration and retesting, two-factor trial design and repeated-treatment reporting. Includes worked datasets, practical tasks, scripts and three draft assessment questions.

05Measurement and calculationIntermediate · Draft syllabus

Six substantive teaching drafts on signed formulas, units and validation, aggregation and rounding, measurement sensitivity, directional retention and area, inverse compensation and a calculation-audit workshop. Includes known-answer exercises, scripts and three draft assessment questions.

06Test conditions and preparationIntermediate · Draft syllabus

Six substantive teaching drafts covering ISO/AATCC method-scope selection, specimen traceability, conditioning, measurement repeatability/reproducibility, report audits and laboratory reconciliation. Includes practical checklists, source references, scripts and three draft assessment questions.

07Garment washing effectsIntermediate · Draft syllabus

Six substantive teaching drafts separating manufacturing wash from consumer care, mapping process evidence, comparing drying routes, balancing performance requirements, testing component assemblies and reviewing washing pilots. Includes original datasets, practical tasks, scripts and three draft questions.

08Stretch recovery and deformationAdvanced · Draft syllabus

Six substantive teaching drafts on unloaded/loaded/recovered states, time-dependent growth, recovery denominators, ASTM method applicability, knee/waistband deformation and complete stretch-response comparisons. Includes calculations, investigations, scripts and three draft assessment questions.

09Pattern compensation and controlsAdvanced · Draft syllabus

Six substantive teaching drafts on directional inverse compensation, feasibility under a shrinkage range, construction allowances, process variation, configuration/change control and a compensation-validation workshop. Includes bounded models, pilot tasks, scripts and three draft assessment questions.

10Shrinkage investigation capstoneAdvanced · Draft syllabus

Six substantive capstone drafts form one fictional denim dimensional-stability investigation: problem/evidence register, lot calculations, competing hypotheses, controlled confirmation, corrective actions and a final portfolio with a proposed 100-point rubric. Includes six introduction scripts and three draft assessment questions.

Learning experience

Study. Practise. Explain.

The new programme format combines lesson summaries, learning objectives, technical explanations, worked examples, practical activities and factory case studies. A 15-second introduction is planned for each new lesson. A written script is not a finished video; the player appears only when an approved video is available.

Assessment & credentials

Evidence of your learning

Questions and practical rubrics are in development. No programme certificate is offered from this preview. Assessment approval and the learner-to-certificate workflow must be validated before launch.

NOSK issues its own learning credentials. They are not Harvard qualifications and are not presented as externally accredited.
