Programme overview

What you will work towards

This is a preview of the developing syllabus. These learning outcomes describe the intended course, not an already awarded competence.

  • Define reproducible garment-work methods and evaluate handling and workstation changes with worker participation and independent quality requirements.
  • Reconcile time-study observations, manual factors, allowance denominators, occasional work and sampling uncertainty without creating unsupported labour standards.
  • Build versioned standard-minute routes and distinguish work content, elapsed cycles, labour consumption and hypothetical cost models.
  • Construct precedence-feasible balances and resource-capacity scenarios while preserving skills, equipment compatibility, material readiness and required working conditions.
  • Audit earned-minute efficiency, first-pass quality, support labour and equipment metrics on explicit, consistent boundaries.
  • Diagnose serial constraints, starvation, blockage and flow-time relationships and evaluate proposed changes at the complete-product system exit.
  • Apply controlled workplace organisation, replenishment and changeover improvement without double-counting benefits or removing necessary safeguards.
  • Defend a traceable factory-productivity portfolio that separates observed outcomes, hypothetical assumptions, unresolved gaps and authorised release decisions.

Enrolment and certification are not open for this programme. Teaching drafts, technical references, media and assessments are still subject to review.

Curriculum preview

10 planned modules, organised as a progressive learning sequence.

01Work study fundamentalsFoundation · Draft syllabus

Six detailed lesson drafts on work-study foundations: productivity definitions, process boundaries and timelines, transparent timing observations, allowance-denominator calculations, bottleneck/efficiency models and an integrated method-comparison workshop. Includes original exercises, target-15-second scripts and eight draft assessment questions.

02Method study and ergonomicsFoundation · Draft syllabus

Six detailed teaching drafts covering method boundaries, material travel, workstation assessment, operator-machine timelines, matched method comparisons and an integrated improvement workshop. Includes original calculations, practical activities, factory scenarios, references, six introduction scripts and twelve draft assessment questions.

03Time study and allowancesFoundation · Draft syllabus

Six detailed teaching drafts on timing elements and clocks, interruptions and occasional work, manual performance factors, allowance denominators, uncertainty in a mean, and a complete time-study calculation workshop. Includes original worked examples, practical exercises, factory scenarios, references, six narration scripts and twelve draft questions.

04SMV calculationIntermediate · Draft syllabus

Six detailed teaching drafts on garment-route work content, operation frequencies, batch and occasional work, sewing-path checks, standard revisions, bounded labour-cost models and integrated order readiness. Includes original examples, practical activities, references, six introduction scripts and twelve draft assessment questions.

05Line balancingIntermediate · Draft syllabus

Six detailed teaching drafts covering takt and cycle definitions, precedence-feasible task assignment, balance denominators, parallel resources, variable product sequences and a complete balance workshop with independent quality checks. Includes six introduction scripts, practical calculations, factory scenarios, primary references and twelve draft assessment questions.

06Capacity and manpower planningIntermediate · Draft syllabus

Six detailed teaching drafts on time budgets, aggregate staffing bounds, specialist resource visits and skills, gross versus accepted-output scenarios, ramp-up planning and a multi-resource capacity workshop. Contains original calculations, practical exercises, factory scenarios, references, six narration scripts and twelve draft assessment questions.

07Production efficiencyIntermediate · Draft syllabus

Six detailed teaching drafts on unique-garment output credit, direct and support labour boundaries, weighted efficiency aggregation, equipment-loss reconciliation, fair improvement comparisons and a dashboard-audit workshop. Includes original ledgers and calculations, practical exercises, references, six introduction scripts and twelve draft questions.

08Bottleneck analysisAdvanced · Draft syllabus

Six detailed teaching drafts on serial-process constraints, starvation and blockage, work in progress and flow-time relationships, protecting constrained time, matched system-output comparisons and a project-selection workshop. Contains original calculations, practical tasks, scholarly and primary references, six narration scripts and twelve draft questions.

09Lean improvement and 5SAdvanced · Draft syllabus

Six detailed teaching drafts covering practical 5S, waiting versus labour content, bounded pull-replenishment models, changeover preparation, controlled improvement cycles and a multi-outcome workshop. Includes worked examples, practical activities, factory cases, references, six narration scripts and twelve draft questions.

10Factory productivity capstoneAdvanced · Draft syllabus

Six connected lessons investigate fictional case P30: a 3,000-shirt order, baseline ledger, labour and specialist constraints, proposed improvement package, candidate comparisons, full-day confirmation and a professional evidence portfolio. Includes a proposed 100-point rubric, worked calculations, six introduction scripts and twelve draft questions.

Learning experience

Study. Practise. Explain.

The new programme format combines lesson summaries, learning objectives, technical explanations, worked examples, practical activities and factory case studies. A 15-second introduction is planned for each new lesson. A written script is not a finished video; the player appears only when an approved video is available.

Assessment & credentials

Evidence of your learning

Questions and practical rubrics are in development. No programme certificate is offered from this preview. Assessment approval and the learner-to-certificate workflow must be validated before launch.

NOSK issues its own learning credentials. They are not Harvard qualifications and are not presented as externally accredited.
