  3. 3Trace occurrence and escape causes using evidence
  4. 4Implement source-level corrective action with owner and due date
  5. 5Verify settings and first output before restart
  6. 6Audit effectiveness and close only when recurrence is controlled

Corrective Action Types

Technical controls & troubleshooting

Inspection Method

  • Define inspection stage, workstation, lighting, tools, sample plan, and garment presentation
  • Follow a consistent inspection sequence so no area is skipped
  • Measure on a flat calibrated surface using the buyer method of measurement
  • Verify function of zippers, snaps, buttons, drawcords, pockets, and adjusters
  • Check inside and outside workmanship, symmetry, shade, cleanliness, labels, and packing
  • Segregate defects immediately and preserve traceability to source operation

Audit Governance

  • Train and periodically calibrate inspectors using known defect samples
  • Set inspector agreement targets and resolve classification differences
  • Prevent inspectors from auditing their own repairs or selectively presented output
  • Use layered process audits to verify control-plan execution
  • Escalate recurrence, critical defects, and measurement trends immediately
  • Close CAPA only after documented effectiveness verification

QC Controls

  • Verify QC SOP at incoming, first-output, inline, end-line, and final stages
  • Separate critical, major, and minor defects using the approved defect library
  • Use risk-based sampling; increase frequency after a failure or process change
  • Maintain shade, size, lot, roll, and bundle traceability throughout production
  • Quarantine nonconforming output until disposition and corrective action are approved
  • Confirm corrective action effectiveness on consecutive production checks

Troubleshooting

  • Contain affected inspection output and identify the last verified-good checkpoint
  • Use 5 Why and fishbone analysis across material, machine, method, people, and environment
  • Compare failed output with the sealed sample, specification, and machine settings
  • Correct the root cause rather than relying on repeated inspection or repair
  • Run a controlled trial, validate results, then release the updated process setting
  • Update SOP, control plan, training record, and preventive-maintenance requirement
